Casella (Genoa - Italy) - Home sweet home

Casella is a nice holiday locality under the slope south of the Mount "Maggio" (m. 978) in passed feudo of the bishops of Tortona and, subsequently, of the Fieschi.

In passed its importance was determined from the fact that, situated in a flat one formed from the Scrivia, it was the crossroads of important trades itineraries from the port of Genoa.

Accused of having favorite the Hasburg troops were destroyed from the Genovesi in 1747.

It comprises others seven fractions and it's the the terminus of a historical railway that, leaving from Genoa, covers the Valbisagno, Valpolcevera and Valle Scrivia.

Position, climate and characteristic connection with Genoa through the "trenino" make Casella one of the goals more frequented from the Genovesi that find in Casella the line of departure for numerous tourist routes:

- ascension to the Mount Maggio (m.978);

- ascension to the Mount Antola (m.1598)

Of remarkable artistic interest the Parochial Church of Saint Stefano that contains one Nativity of the school of Domenico Fiasella and "L'incontro della Vergine con Santa Elisabetta" of Giovanni Andrea De Ferrari.
